Getting Free From Whiteness is an embodiment group for white folks to bridge the gap between theory and practice in this era of racial reckoning. Rooted in a heart-centered approach, this course is designed to challenge rigid binaries, polarization, and exclusion. We’ll endeavor to adopt a wider and more inclusive view of humanity, and our place in it. These times compel us to move beyond intellectual understanding– reading books is not enough. Racial division can be defined as a disease of separation– it disconnects us, severs us from each other. This is an opportunity to begin to recapture humanity from the grips of this division. We’ll explore the deep-seated, often invisible ways whiteness operates in our lives. Given the severity of the problem and the chaos of our times, we’re called to rely on sources of support that are bigger than us. In a world marked by separation, fear, and anger, we’ll focus on cultivating community, creativity, and wonder. Through mindfulness and embodiment practices, we’ll create a space for deeper self-awareness and connection. While we grapple with the limitations of our current reality, we must also summon the courage to build a more healed and humane world.
